What is SDM?

The Simple Deploy- and Managment framework is an environment that is designed to configure and manage entire IT infrastructures, regardless of what software or system it runs. It is based on the configuration management system Ansible and the version control system (VCS) Git.

The main goals are:

We believe the goals are necessary to provide secure, stable and fexible IT infrastructures.

Why Ansible?

Ansible is a smart IT automation tool with a very low number of dependencies that have similar goals. It only needs a simple host, SSH and Python to work. All files are in plain text and can be managed in a VCS. The instructions for this tool are in the YAML format. Furthermore, Ansible contains the powerful template engine Jinja for template processing and more complex tasks.

SDM has similar goals as Ansible: simplicity and ease-of-use.
